Summerfest is an annual community-wide Independence Day celebration, set for July 4. 

Continuous live musical entertainment is provided throughout the afternoon and evening. A variety of food and drinks are available from onsite vendors.

The annual festival capitalizes on the park’s scenic San Marcos River setting. Admission to all events is free.

Summerfest is a community-wide partnership between the City of San Marcos, Texas State University and a host of other corporations, organizations and individual volunteers. The event began in 1980.

Event highlights include the following:

• Lions Club’s Illuminated River Parade
• Hays County Crime Stoppers’ Ducky Derby
• fireworks exhibition
