Bobcat Build is an annual community service day that encourages thousands of Texas State students, faculty and staff to complete hundreds of projects in San Marcos as a way of saying "thank you" for the community's continued support of the university.
Student volunteers tackle outdoor projects such as landscaping, painting houses, playground clean-ups, greenspace trash pick-ups and washing windows at service agencies, schools, churches and low-income neighborhoods. The project enables participants to develop meaningful relationships with area residents, community leaders schools and nonprofit organizations.
The Bobcat Build Student Planning Organization works with community leaders and city officials to identify areas of need within the city. Students are invited to join the planning organization, which works year-round to raise funds, develop projects and plan the kickoff.
The event is typically held in late March or early April.
