The African American Leadership Conference originated in 1992 when several ambitious upperclassmen set out to revive and encourage leadership in the university community. This group of students had a focus — preparing students for success at the university level and for the sometimes difficult transition from home to college life. The conference is held each September to make an early impact on students and jump-start their first semester at Texas State. The conference goal is even greater success as each year passes.
